A series of circles and lines scrawled in red crayon on orange construction paper is neatly labeled “Mommy Falling Down the Stairs, Mary age 3”. Now grown up, Mary continues to use art to express feelings some would prefer go unstated.

After enduring a painfully long adolescence, Mary Doyle attended Parsons School of Design in New York City as an Illustration Major. She completed the last half of her studies at the San Francisco Art Institute, including a semester abroad at Gerritt-Rietveld Academie, Amsterdam. Graduating with a Bachelor of Fine Arts, Painting. Mary returned to New York in ‘99 and currently resides in Brooklyn.

Mary's artworks express the detachment, anxiety, and confusion of adulthood by recalling the emotional intensity of childhood. The emotions elicited by the simultaneously adult and juvenile works question society’s conceptions of progress and growth. Mary’s work has shown in New York City, San Francisco and Berlin.
