SwearBears, Rock n' Roll & CBGB's

For 31 years, CBGB of NY has been a space for new creativity in music and art. It has served as a starting ground for the careers of thousands of musicians and artists. However, today they face a terrible challenge. They are losing their lease. But they are not going away without a fight.

The SwearBears, Drastic Plastic, Hi Fructose Magazine, Clutter Magazine, PlayTimes Magazine, ToyTokyo and KPI TV presented "Swear to Save" a benefit to help save this historic club. The show featured 150 vinyl SwearBear figures customized by gigposter artists and musicians. Each artist displayed 1 custom 7" Swear Bear figure and 1 piece of original art. The show opened on February 14th, 2006 and will run until March 10th at CB's 313 Gallery in NYC.

A few of the amazing artists in this show are Mark Mothersbaugh of Devo, KRK Ryden, Jeff Gaither, Tara McPherson, Bobby Dixon, Dave K. Rose, The B-52's, Jeff Wood of Drowning Creek Studios, SuckLord, Uncle Charlie, Sinc, and Drew Millward. What's exciting is that many of them are not actively involved in designer toys. They have some fresh takes on customized toys with a wide range of artistic styles.
